Raghvendra Singh Of Concept Legal International: Disrupting The Legal Consulting Market With Simple Solutions

The debate of individualism and collectivism is centuries old with no decisive answer. American political scientist and political economist, Francis Fukuyama in his seminal work, The End of History and the Last Man, prophesied the triumph of liberal democracy at the end of the Cold War.

As the end point of humanity's sociocultural evolution, the final form of human government and the last ideological stage in the progression of human history.

In a sense, his thesis suggested the victory of individualism. But scholarships about individualism like Schumpeter's praise of entrepreneurial efforts, reveal the importance of individuals in history.

Such an individual is Raghvendra Singh, managing partner of Concept Legal International who is creating great inroads in the legal consulting industry with expertise in Intellectual Property rights, a global industry that is sized up to $5.5 Trillion in terms of revenue. Raghvendra has been practising law in the Apex Court and the Delhi High Court for about 2.5 years.

He worked for the BLB Group as a Legal Consultant for 3.2 years and also worked on a retainer ship for HCL Comnet for a year as an in-house lawyer for real estate & corporate advisory.

Then he went on to work as a legal head in Kotak Mahindra Bank for 8 years. Raghvendra enrolled as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – London, United Kingdom.

Raghvendra describes himself as a positive person who has seen a lot in a short duration and has achieved success at whatever he is urged to do. He wanted a career in the field of journalism through a mass communication program, but life brought him into the legal world.

Initially, many challenges were hurled at him while he was relocating from Bihar. He overcame all the issues by gathering his courage and going on to start a new life.

Although, he sometimes misses leaving the field of mass communication. His favourite quote is 'Never Say Never.' Raghvendra was invited by many law firms for a partner position, but he chose to initiate his start-up law firm.

Let's hear the rest of the story and personal aspects of professional life from the Fountainhead itself. Edited excerpts.

The 'inception story'

I was in London, UK, with one of my friends who is a UK citizen. While we were in a meeting, the idea of opening a legal firm in partnership came, and my friend agreed to act upon it as a partner.

The efficiency of the organization from an operational standpoint

People approaching our firm for their legal and immigration queries is in itself an achievement and point of satisfaction for us. We have been awarded as the Immigration Lawyer by the Indian National Bar Association. So, this depicts the vivid reputed position of the firm.

Established connections to other businesses of the organization

We maintain 16 such connections, encompassing various sectors. Notably, within this network, three hail from the travel industry, five represent legal entities, and another three are affiliated with banks.

Our esteemed clientele includes Experion Developers, SBI, Harper Group, Tata Energy, Delhi University (ACBR), Organic Weave, JLS Healthcare, HVS Group, YKS Hospitality, Trueline Appliances, Back 2 Health, Gold Developers, Hero Honda, BLB Group, S&M Hospitality, Super Systems, Realcraft Buildtech, Sun and Sand Exim, Silicon Comnet, OA Compserve, Unity International Foundation, HSPS Textile, Smartlube, Shristhi Construction, Tarsus PLC Group (UK), Jastez International, Siemens Financial Services, K World Group, Apna Loan, ICICI Bank, NEC, and NYK Line.

Future Leadership of the firm

The firm is growing. We are also preparing and nurturing our three team leaders to become good corporate lawyers to handle the additional responsibilities.

An inspirational figure in the journey so far

The attitude of senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani to win a case inspires me a lot, and I believe winning the case should be the core attitude of a lawyer.

Bursting the Myth of Sisyphus

It is difficult for me to answer this question. I believe my employees and team are better equipped to answer this. Nonetheless, I try hard to keep them motivated.

Encouraging creative thinking in the organization

I embolden my team members to think of out-of-the-box solutions. The law is not applied mathematics.

One characteristic that every leader should possess

A leader should never say no and must try to infuse their values in their juniors and colleagues by keeping themselves ego-free.

One mistake a leader makes more frequently than others

I believe overconfidence and extra vegan budgets for the organization are the mistakes a leader makes more frequently.

Few resources to gain insight into becoming a better leader

One can become a good leader by gaining excellent domain knowledge, the ability to minimize input costs, and thinking of out-of-the-box solutions.

Existential Crisis

The hunger to get a new challenging assignment with maximum billable hours helps me go on with life. For me, every day is like a new challenge.

Three Adjectives that describe Raghvendra

I would say "amiable, vivacious towards work, and enthusiastic" describe me best.

Social responsibilities

I have been actively involved in various activities related to social welfare. Now I am planning to incorporate an NGO for underprivileged children in Chhattisgarh.

A piece of advice for the budding leaders

"Always believe in yourself and do whatever you dream about."
