Commemorating the discovery of the Raman scattering by the Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Vendkata Raman, 28 February is celebrated as National Science Day.

Every year, National Science Day is celebrated with a theme to make people aware of the importance of science.

This year the Department of Science and Technology decided the theme of National Science Day 2020 is "Women in Science". Last year the theme was "Science for the People and the People for Science."

The 2020 theme of National Science Day is dedicated to women involved in science and also to encourage them to participate more in it. In the last few years, women are taking part in different science and advanced tech fields. 

We all know about the valuable contributions of great scientists like C V Raman, Meghnad Saha, and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam; but most of us are unaware of the contributions of women in the field of science and technology.

So on this National Science Day, let us look at the best Indian women scientists and technocrats who have broken stereotypes and are an example to all.
