New Delhi: On Sunday, India witnessed a historic milestone as Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the third time. President Droupadi Murmu oversaw the swearing-in ceremony, where key figures like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari were among the 70+ leaders inaugurated into the Modi 3.0 ministry, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's political landscape.
Narendra Modi reclaimed his position as Prime Minister following the NDA's decisive triumph in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, securing 293 out of 543 seats. Although the NDA emerged as the clear winner, the BJP, its primary constituent, fell short of the majority threshold with 240 seats. This prompted strategic coalition-building endeavours to ensure effective governance, underscoring the pivotal role of coalition politics in India's parliamentary system.
The newly assembled cabinet represents a mosaic of diversity and inclusivity, consisting of 30 Cabinet ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State. This inclusive leadership ensemble embodies a fusion of seasoned wisdom, specialised skills, and regional diversity, equipped to tackle the intricate array of challenges and prospects facing the nation.
