We are in 2020 and it’s time to implement our New Year resolutions and plans. If moving from your current place is the part of your New Year plan or you require cash, just want to clear the clutter out of your home, you can easily make a decent amount of money by just selling all of the excess crap.

In today’s digital, selling stuff and earning extra money is very easy. But you will want to determine the ideal venue for your goods. Selling your favourite book is a different endeavour from offloading your old t-shirt. We have rounded up some of the major places where you can sell your goods:

Consignment Shop

A consignment shop is the easiest way to sell your goods. The major advantage of these second-hand shops is that most of them focus on one type of product- some are dedicated solely to clothes, some to books, some to musical instruments, some especially work for automobiles. Because of this, you will be able to get a good price for your product.

Amazon allows sellers to sell their products but to those who a large inventory. Amazon’s Fulfillment Program can help you to quickly make money from the stuff lying around your house. It works by just packing up your goods into a box, listing it and sending it to Amazon. This market giant will pick up the box up store it until it sells. Because Amazon is a juggernaut; your item can easily and quickly get discovered by a massive audience. You only need to make sure that your product is listed at a competitive price and is an in-demand item.

If you are looking for a slightly simpler fee structure than Amazon, eBay lets you auction and sell a wide range of goods. For most items, you need to pay eBay 10% of the final sale price of the item that includes shipping costs but not taxes. If you post more than 50 items in a month, eBay charges you 30 cents per listing over 50, though it may refund the 30 cents if your item sells. To extra fees, you need to upgrade and promote your eBay listing. Initially, you may wish to fix a reserve price so that your item is auctioned off for at least the minimum cost.

Social Media

Apart from different selling sites, you can just sell your extra stuff to people you already know. List your stuff on Facebook for free and, hopefully, receive a response in just a couple of hours. Since your network includes people whom you know well, the transaction can go down quickly. If you have something suitable for a specific group, post the item on a relevant group’s page.

Instagram is also a relevant way to sell your product through a social site. You just need to snap a picture and provide a brief description.

 Local sales

When it comes to local sales, Facebook Marketplace plays a significant role. It’s a different style than online auctions and sales. Local sales don’t take a cut of your sales, but you will connect with your buyer, meet up in person and make the exchange. In case, you’re not comfortable handling all the logistics yourself and then meeting up with a stranger, you should not go for it. Facebook Marketplace and other local sales websites and apps don’t take a cut of your sales. Depending on what you’re selling, you can arrange to meet your buyer in a public place or have a friend hang around while you make the sale.

The main benefit of this marketing place is that there is no packing, shipping or fees, just cash in your hand. But these marketplaces don’t have any guarantees or protections if your buyer turns out to be a flake.

Approach Colleges

If you live near a college or university, you can simply place flyers on campus. The best time to do is before a semester starts when students look for the stuff they need for the upcoming school year.

Local Market

In case, there is no college nearby, you can easily set up a table at a local flea market. Although you will have to rent a space, flea markets are a reliable option to sell everything from used goods to collectibles. If the price is right, you will be able to unload everything you want to sell.

These are a few places where you can sell your stuff easily. Amazon, eBay, have higher fees, but they are also some of the most highly trafficked sites in the global world. Facebook, Instagram are popular social sites where you can sell your products. If you want to sell your stuff physically, visit any local market and nearby college.
