Netaji reportedly disappeared from his house in Kolkata and reached Germany in January 1941. He sought the cooperation of Germany and Japan against the British Empire.

He initiated his regular broadcasts from Radio Berlin that aroused great enthusiasm in India, in January 1942. On August 18, 1945, Bose was reportedly killed in an air crash over Taipei, Taiwan.
